Colca Canyon

The second stop in Peru was Arequipa. It is the second biggest town and in the backround of the main square you can normally see mt misti with about 5900m and a withe summit. A really beautiful sight, but the weather have to be fine and we haven't been that lucky. Instead of that we have seen the Karfriday ceremony:) The whole town was sitting on the street and ate and celebrated. In the evening there was a procession through the city with music and ratchets.
On the next day morning a shuttle picked us up at 3:00am, because we planed a two trekk to the Colca-canyon. As I learned this canyon is the deepest of the world with about 4100m. After a three hour bus ride we had the first stop and watched there Condors, which use the termionics in the morning to arise.
One hour later we reached the destination from where we began to walk. We started at an attitude of 3400m and went down for 3 hours to 2200m. There we crossed the river and walked further 4 hours up and down till we reached a small oasis where we spent the night in small bamboos huts. There they had also something like a swimming pool where we relaxed.
The next day we wake up when it was still dark and walked up the canyon without breakfast, this we received 3 and half hour later when we reached a small village on the top of the canyon. There we had also time to observe the locals during their Easter celebration. The danced and drunk beer on the square in front of the church. The right time also for us to open a bottle:))
On the way home we made some stops to take pictures from nature, lamas or alpacas.
